Why Not's Story
Do to an electrical fire. We are CLOSED for business.
Annie Friese started cooking for her family at the of age 9. Since then, she has perfected many traditional meals, like meatloaf and country fried steak to mention a few. Her recipe book and skills have grown over the years as she worked for a few local restaurants during the height of their success. She took time off for family and in 2014 found herself wanting more. She looked down the street at the closed restaurant and thought to herself "I could run the restaurant, Why Not?" It didn't take long before she bought the building, remodeled it with the help of her family, and opened the doors.
Since opening, she has added a bar and some gamibling machines, an atm machine and even started catering for events. After all, "Why Not?" These days, you could find her waiting on you at the tables, in the kitchen baking desserts or cooking, and you may even just find her sitting at the table hanging out with the customers.
Annie views "Why Not" as a nonchalant approach to life since we all have only one life to live, so Why Not live it up and do what you dream.
Every business is the result of the sum of its parts, and Why Not is no different.
Fortunately for us, the owner has experience and used it to hire wonderful employees. On staff, we have an experienced mom of several, a "jack of all trades", an artist, and a business professional.
All of them are well trained in the art of sarcasm and fun and we cook really good food, too.
We believe that if you do not love your work, why do it, so we try to enjoy every moment of it. After all, Why Not?
Over the years, Why Not has tried to grow with the local community. When alcohol was allowed within town limits, Why Not started selling liquor. Now Why Not has expanded its liquor sales so much that it moved all alcohol sales to the old railroad depot next door. The bar is called Rumor Has It. After all, no matter where you are, where you work, or where you live...rumors fly. Why Not come and enjoy a beverage along with that wonderful conversation?!
